Special Board Meeting
Monday, February 22, 2016
A Special Board Meeting was held on Monday, February 22, 2016, at the Village Hall. Village President Mike Newman called the meeting to order at 5:00 p.m. Mark Zimmer, Gayanne Skogen, Jim Moore and Shane Trott attended the meeting. Darlene Wundrow and both Clerks attended also.
Motion by Zimmer, seconded by Trott to approve the Agenda, carried.
New Business:
Bid Opening for Tree & Stump Removal at Village Park: Newman reported bids were received for the tree & brush removal at the Village Park and for stump removal/grinding & restoration of the removal area.
He opened the bids and they were recorded as follows: Swenson Logging-$2,238.00 for Tree and Brush Removal. Morgan Excavating-$27,966.00 for entire project. Steve Golat Sewer & Excavating-$7,325.00 for Stump Removal/Grinding and Restoration. Jerry’s Tree Service-$8,500.00 for Tree and Brush Removal and $8,000.00 for Stump Removal/Grinding and Restoration. Gudis Sand and Gravel, LLC-$4,482.00 for Tree and Brush Removal and $6,327.00 for Stump Removal/Grinding and Restoration.
Axe Tree Service $4,000.00 for Tree and Brush Removal. Baughman Trucking & Excavating-$4,200.00 for Tee and Brush Removal and $5,730.00 for Stump Removal/Grinding and Restoration. Stout Construction, Inc.-$3,360.00 for Tree and Brush Removal and $6,590.00 fir Stump Removal/Grinding and Restoration. Peterson Services of Rice Lake-$11,040.00 for Stump Removal/Grinding and Restoration. Peterson Tree Service-$14,000.00 for Tree and Brush Removal. Discussion was held regarding the bids and the time frame to complete the work.
Accept Bids for Tree & Stump Removal: Motion by Zimmer, seconded by Skogen to accept the bids from Gudis Sand and Gravel, LLC for $4,482.00 for Tree and Brush Removal and $6,327.00 for Stump Removal/Grinding and Restoration, carried. Proof of insurance will be provided by Gudis before any work begins. The tree removal should be completed by April 1st, 2016 and stump removal/grinding and restoration of the area should be completed by May 1st, 2016.
Lawnmower Purchase for Village Baseball Field: Larry Villiard contacted Mike Newman and discussed the possibility of the Village helping with cost of purchasing a used John Deere lawnmower that would be used primarily to mow the baseball field. The Bruce School has agreed to pay half of the cost. The mower currently being used was donated several years ago by an individual and is in need of replacement. Motion by Trott, seconded by Zimmer to approve an $800.00 donation to the Bruce School for the purchase of a used John Deere lawnmower, carried.
Resolution to Withdraw from Local Government Property Fund: The Board reviewed
Resolution #16-01, Resolution to Withdraw from Local Government Property Fund to enable the Village to seek coverage with the Municipal Property Insurance Company. The premium will be significantly less by doing so. Motion by Zimmer, seconded by Trott to adopt Resolution # 16-01, Resolution to Withdraw from Local Government Property Fund Insurance, carried.
Adjourn: Motion by Zimmer, seconded by Trott to adjourn, carried. Adjournment was at 5:47 p.m.
